Wiki: A technology for conversational knowledge management and group collaboration

Van C. Wagner wordt anno 2004 de rol van wiki’s tot kennismanagement al uit een gezet. Een interessant stuk met een aantal thema’s van Kennismanagement tools tot kennisdelings concepten, en interessante diagrammen. Bij het opzetten van wikiwise en het uitwerken van het business model en klant propositie heb ik dit stuk veelvuldig gebruikt en aangevuld.

Ik duik naar de conclusie:

Wiki technology enables collaboration of people similar to open source softwaredevelopment, while at the same time minimizing the effort of content publication.

Since the majority of organizational knowledge is still largely kept solely by people, they are the source of much of relevant organizational knowledge.

Instead of trying to automate knowledgecreation we have to create tools that make it  simple for people to express, share, and findknowledge.  This is what Wikis do.

They harness the power of many and provide a dynamic that lets people volunteer to create a common good (whose mechanisms we don’t yet fullyunderstand).

As a result, we should expect faster knowledge management with fewer mistakes than in “closed source” knowledge management environments.
